Jacks and Hawks Go Head-to-Head in Sioux Falls This Friday Night

South Dakota State Faces North Dakota in Summit League Championship Quarterfinals

Sioux Falls, SD – The South Dakota State Jackrabbits are gearing up for their 2025 Summit League Championship debut, taking on the North Dakota Fighting Hawks this Friday night at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. The third-seeded Jackrabbits will tip off against the sixth-seeded Hawks shortly after the 6 p.m. matchup between North Dakota State and South Dakota.

This quarterfinal showdown marks the first meeting between SDSU and UND in the Summit League Tournament. Historically, the Jackrabbits boast an impressive record, having won 28 of their 37 conference tournament appearances and securing the championship title seven times, including their most recent victory in 2024.

The two teams had a balanced rivalry during the regular season, each claiming a win. In their first meeting in January, SDSU showcased an outstanding offensive performance, with the team shooting an impressive 71.4% in the first half, ultimately winning 109-73. This game featured standout performances, particularly from Joe Sayler, who scored 25 points. However, the February rematch saw North Dakota flip the script, shooting nearly 70% in the first half to win 80-75.

The Jackrabbits concluded their regular season with a 20-11 overall record and an 11-5 showing in Summit League play, led by First Team All-Summit League player and Newcomer of the Year Oscar Cluff. Meanwhile, North Dakota finished the season 11-20 and 5-11 in conference play, with Treysen Eaglestaff earning Second Team All-League honors.
