Grand Forks Herald: UND Football Recruits Central Cass’ Aiden Wunderlich, Defeats NDSU and SDSU

In a highly anticipated college football recruiting battle in North Dakota, Central Cass offensive tackle Aiden Wunderlich has committed to the University of North Dakota (UND) under new head coach Eric Schmidt. Wunderlich, a sought-after prospect with seven Division I offers, ultimately chose UND over rivals such as North Dakota State and South Dakota State. The 6-foot-6, 270-pound standout cited a strong relationship with Schmidt and the coaching staff as a key factor in his decision.

UND was the first school to offer Wunderlich a scholarship, and after careful consideration, he decided to commit earlier than originally planned. Wunderlich, considered the top prospect in North Dakota for the 2026 class by USA Today and Prep Redzone, joins a talented offensive line recruiting class for UND, which also includes commitments from Jackson Stein of Wisconsin and Brady Goihl of Minnesota.

The announcement comes as UND’s football program wraps up its spring ball, leading up to a Spring Showcase event in April. Wunderlich’s commitment adds depth and talent to the roster, signaling a promising future for the Fighting Hawks under Schmidt’s leadership. With the addition of Wunderlich and other top recruits, UND is poised to make a strong impact in the college football landscape in the coming years.
