Remembering Roger Kiwimagi: A Life of Service and Dedication
PARKER, CO – Roger Kiwimagi, a beloved family man and dedicated community member, passed away peacefully at his home in Parker, Colorado, surrounded by loved ones. He was 83.
Kiwimagi’s funeral service will take place at the Family Worship Center in Colorado Springs on April 26, 2025, at 11 AM, followed by a meal. Visitation will be held at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson, ND, on April 30, from 5 to 7 PM, with a prayer service beginning at 6 PM. He will be laid to rest at Daglum Cemetery on May 1 at 10 AM, also followed by a meal at the church.
Born in North Dakota to George and Elvina Kiwimagi, Roger faced early hardships, losing both parents by the age of 17. Despite these challenges, he emerged resilient, serving in the U.S. Army and eventually earning advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics at Dickinson State University.
In 1961, he married Bernadette Steffan. Together, they raised four children while living in Tennessee, New York, and Colorado. Roger had a successful career at IBM before transitioning to academia, teaching in Texas, Guam, and North Dakota.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Roger was a devoted husband and father, a talented artist, musician, and an advocate for sobriety. He volunteered in the prison system for nearly 50 years, helping individuals find their paths to recovery.
Roger is survived by his wife, Bernadette; four children; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his kindness, integrity, creativity, and unwavering love for family.
